Tissue Paper Wreath
Materials :
- Tissue paper - approximately 16 sheets
- Wire coat hanger
- Spray adhesive
- Glitter
- Artificial berries
- Hot glue gun with glue sticks
- 48" Piece of paper twist
- Optional: Small pinecones
Variation: Use green tissue paper or red & white tissue paper.
- Cut tissue paper into 6" x 1 1/4" strips. A rotary cutter is very helpful when cutting the strips but if you don't have one, just use a pencil and ruler to mark the strips then cut them out with scissors. Since tissue paper is so thin, you should be able to cut several layers at one time. If using the pencil and ruler method, you only need to mark the top sheet of tissue paper.
- Bend a wire coat hanger into a circle. Then, bend the hook into a loop for hanging.
- Take a strip of tissue paper and attach it to the circle portion of the hanger. To attach it, fold the tissue strip in half around the hanger and gently give it a twist close to the hanger leaving the ends free.
- Continue adding strips of tissue paper as described in step 3 but turn each piece you add slightly so that it is not directly in line with the previous piece that you added.
- Once your wreath is very full looking, you can stop adding tissue strips.
- Spray the front and sides of the wreath with spray adhesive and immediately sprinkle with glitter. We used a red and white glitter combination on our sample. Let dry.
- Lay artificial berries on the wreath and once you are happy with the arrangement, hot glue them in place. Optional: Add small pinecones in this same manner.
- Untwist a 48" piece of paper twist and tie it into a bow. Hot glue it onto your wreath. I suggest applying glue to the knot and the two loops for added stability.
