Crochet Neck Warmer

crochet pattern - neck warmer scarf

Materials:

  • 2 - 3 oz worsted weight yarn
  • Crochet hook; size I
  • Yarn needle

Choose a nice soft yarn. Our sample is made from a soft variegated worsted weight yarn.

The pattern is given for an adult size neck warmer with changes in ( ) for a child's neck warmer.  These are just two general sizes. If you need one larger or smaller adjust the number of dc in a row and the number of rows and/or you can use a different size crochet hook.  After you have crocheted 3 or 4 rows, check that your work is approximately 6 1/2" (5") wide. If not, adjust your tension or change your hook size.

  • Ch 24 (20)
  • Row 1: DC in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across; 22 (18) ch 2 turn
  • Row 2: DC through both loops of 1st dc and each dc across; ch 2 turn
  • Repeat row 2 until work measures approximately 16 1/2" (14") long.
  • On the last row only, ch 1 instead of 2 at the end of the row. Fold your work in half so that the first and last rows line up.
  • Slst through the first st of last row and first st of first row.
  • Continue joining first and last rows using slst - forming a tube.
  • Weave loose ends back into your work then, cut the ends.
  • Turn the tube so that the joining seam is on the inside of the tube.

To wear, simply slide the tube over your head and pull down to cover your neck.
