  1. Print out the pattern provided.  It will print on two pages.  Hold both pages horizontally and line up the printed lines then tape the two pages together. Using this pattern and pinking shears, cut out one hat piece from fabric and one from interfacing. Be sure to fold you fabric in half and place the pattern on the fold as indicated.
  2. Iron the interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric following the instructions that come with the interfacing.
  3. Fold 1/4" to the inside along the bottom edge of the hat.  Stitch in place.
  4. Stitch lace along the bottom edge of the hat on top of the hem stitches.
  5. Fold the hat in half lengthwise matching the edges and pin in place. Stitch along this seam using 1/4" seam allowance.  Clip the seam at the top point and then right side out.
  6. Cut a piece of elastic thread approximately 10" long or the size to fit your child.
  7. Make a knot on each end of the elastic thread and stitch one end to each side of the hat just inside the lower edge of the hat.  Be sure to have the seam positioned to the back of the hat before attaching the elastic.
  8. Using pinking shears, cut a piece of tulle 5" x 25". Fold it in half, gather and stitch the center of the tulle to the top point on the hat.
