Back Loop Half Double Crochet Stitch
If you compare the final look of the back loop half double crochet stitch to the basic half double crochet stitch which is worked through both loops, you will notice that when worked through the back loops on each row you achieve a raised striped look instead of a smooth look. As you can see, one little change when crocheting can make a big difference in the final look of a project.
Materials: Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
You can work any number of stitches but add two to the base chain.
