Treble Crochet Stitch

treble crochet stitch instructions

The treble crochet stitch is sometimes referred to as the triple crochet stitch. The abbreviation for the treble crochet is tc or tr depending on the pattern's origin. Our sample is worked through both loops of the previous row.

Materials: Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
tc/tr = treble crochet/triple crochet
ch = chain
rep = repeat
st = stitch
yo = yarn over

You can work any number of stitches but add three to the base chain.

1st row: Skip 3 ch, tr into next chain and each ch across, turn.
2nd row: Ch 3, tr into next st and each st to end, turn
Repeat row 2 to desired length.

Review: A treble crochet stitch is made as follows -wrap yarn twice around your crochet hook, insert hook into corresponding stitch of previous row, yo, draw up the loop, *yo draw through two loops, repeat from * until you have a single loop remaining on hook.
