Blossom Crochet Stitch Pattern

Here is a 3-D, 3 layered flower crochet pattern with six petals per layer. Use this flower as the center of a granny square or attach it to any garment including a child's headband.

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
st(s) = stitch (es)

Base Ring: Ch 6, join with sl st.
Round 1: 12 sc into ring, sl st to first sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc into same sc [ch 3, sk 1 sc, sc into next sc] 5 times, ch 3, sk 1 sc, sl st to first sc.
Round 3: *[1sc, 1hdc, 3dc, 1hdc, 1sc] into next ch 3 sp; rep from * 5 more times, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Round 4: Working in back of petals, join yarn in back loop of sc on 2nd round below last and first petals [ch 5, sc in back loop of next sc on 2nd round below next 2 petals] 5 times, ch 5, sc into joining st.
Round 5: *[1sc, 1hdc, 5dc, 1hdc, 1sc] into next ch 5 sp; rep from * 5 more times, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Round 6: Rep 4th round with 7 ch instead of 5 ch for each ch sp.
Round 7: 11 sc into each ch 7 sp, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
