Christmas angel craft ideas

Angels with a surprise ~
Wow your holiday guests with hand made angel napkin rings. When dinner is over, your guest can take home their angels and hang them on the Christmas tree. You see, these elegant angel napkin rings convert from napkin ring to Christmas ornament. Easy last minute Christmas craft made from ribbon.

  • 1 Glitter pipe cleaner
  • 1" Christmas bulb; the type you find on Christmas floral picks
  • 18" length of 1/3" wide ribbon
  • 2 feet of 2" or 2.5" wide wire edged ribbon
  • Elastic thread
  • 1/2" Rose
  • Hot glue gun with glue sticks
  • 5" strand of pearls by the yard
  1. Cut a 10" piece of wire edge ribbon for the body.
  2. Cut a 1" Christmas bulb off of a Christmas pick. Note that on one end of this ball there is a "stem".
  3. Fold the 10" piece of ribbon in half. Gather the raw edges in your hands and carefully using hot glue, attach the raw ends of the ribbon to the "stem" of the Christmas bulb.
  4. Cut a 6.5" piece of elastic thread. Tie the ends in an overhand knot and glue the knot to the back of the bulb just above the stem of the bulb.
  5. To make the halo, cut a 5" piece of pipe cleaner. Form a 3/4" circle on one end and twist the end around the pipe cleaner to keep it in place. Glue the straight end of the pipe cleaner to the back side of the Christmas bulb. Bend the halo so that it looks like it is hovering above the head.
  6. Cut an 11" piece of wide edged ribbon for the wings. Overlap the ends and glue the ends together forming a tube shape.
  7. Spin the tube so that the seam is in the back and gather the center of the wings. Tie the center of an 18" piece of 1/8" wide ribbon around the center of the wings where you gathered them.
  8. Apply a little hot glue to the center of the wings. Lay the neck of the angel (the 'stem' of the Christmas bulb) on top of the glue. Tie the ends of the thin ribbon around the neck of the angel forming a a bow. Using a dab of hot glue, attach the ends of the thin ribbon to the front of the wide ribbon (angel body).
  9. Cut a 5" piece of pearls by the yard and glue the center of this strand on top of the knot in the angel's bow letting the ends hang down.
  10. Glue a mini rose on top at the knot in the bow.

To use: Adjust the bottom of the angel's body so that it will sit on the table and slide a napkin through the loop formed by the ribbon body. After dinner, simply use the elastic thread at the top of the angel to hang her on the Christmas tree.
