Although this pattern is not difficult, I do recommend that you have some experience with crochet before attempting it. You must understand the basic double crochet stitch before you can master the Cluster 4 used here. It requires you to partially stitch a double crochet but instead of completing it, you need to leave the last loop on the hook and after doing this with multiple stitches, you yarn over and pull through all the loops on the hook. Once you get the hang of the Cluster 4 stitch, it does make your project work up quickly.

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Crochet Abbreviations:
beg = beginning
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
rep = repeat
sk - skip
sp = space
st(s) = stitch(es)
yo = yarn over

Chain a multiple of 3 sts + 5

Cluster4 = Work 3 dc over stem of dc just worked but leave last loop of each dc on hook, then work 4th dc as indicated leaving last loop as before (5 loops on hook), yo and through all 5 loops.

Row 1 (right side): Dc in 6th ch from hook, *ch 3, sk 2 ch, work cluster4 placing 4th dc into next ch; rep from * to last 2 ch; ch3, work cluster4 placing 4th dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, dc into next ch 3 sp, *ch 3, work cluster4 placing 4th dc into next ch 3 sp; rep from * to end placing final dc into top of ch at beg of previous row; turn.
