Easter Bunny Plant Stake

Easter crafts; bunny plant stake

Paint a wooden spoon white and add some embellishments such as craft foam ears and wiggle eyes and you have an Easter bunny perfect for dressing up any plant or floral arrangement.

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden spoon*
  • 1/2" Pink pompom
  • Two 20mm oval wiggle eyes
  • Acrylic paint; white, red and black
  • All purpose sealer or varnish
  • Paintbrushes
  • Craft foam; pink & white
  • Tacky glue
  • Black button thread
  • 2 White pipe cleaners

*Our spoon is 10" long but you can use any size spoon.

  1. Paint the spoon white and let dry completely.
  2. Coat spoon with all purpose sealer or varnish. Let dry per instructions on bottle or can.
  3. Cut three 4" strands of black button thread. Line the 3 strands up and while holding them all together as one, tie a knot in the center of the strands. Glue this knot to the center of the spoon and glue a pink pompom on top of the knot. Trim the thread (aka whiskers) to the length you want.
  4. Glue the eyes above the nose and whiskers.
  5. Paint eyebrows and a mouth onto the spoon with black paint.
  6. Cut two ear shapes out of pink craft foam. Our ears are about 4 1/2" tall and 1 3/4" wide.
  7. Cut two white ear shapes that are a little smaller than the pink ears.
  8. Glue the white ears to the center of the pink ears. Set aside for a moment.
  9. Paint a bow tie onto the neck of the spoon.
  10. Wrap the handle of the spoon with the white pipe cleaners. Leave the bottom of the handle unwrapped so that you can stick it in a plant.
  11. Place the ears on your worksurface so they are overlapping slightly. Place a generous amount of glue on the bottom inch or so of the ears and place the back of the spoon into the glue pressing down firmly. Leave flat until dry.

Stick the handle of the spoon into a plant or into a flower arrangement to display him.
