Maui Orchid Crochet Stitch Pattern
Stitch up this beautiful floral design in a variety of colors. Our sample was made with worsted weight yarn and a size H (American) crochet hook. As seen above, it measures approximately 6" across the center from point to point.
Difficulty level = intermediate
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
sk = skip
sl st = slip stitch
st(s) = stitch (es)
ttr = triple treble (see below)
yo = yarn over
Special abbreviation: Ttr = triple treble = yo 4 times, insert hook in next st, yo, draw yarn through st (yo, draw yarn through 2 loops on hook) 5 times.
Note: After working 3rd round it may be necessary to ease the shells of [3dc, ch 3, 3dc] to center of loop formed in previous round.
Base ring: Ch 8, join with sl st.
Round 1: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 19 dc into ring, sl st to top of ch 3.
Round 2: [Ch 11, sk next dc, sl st into next dc] 9 times, ch 6, 1 Ttr into sl st at end of previous round.
Round 3: sl st into loop just formed by ttr, ch 3, [2 dc, ch 3, 3dc] into same loop, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc] into each of next 9 loops, sl st to top of ch 3.
Fasten off.
