Nanna Square Crochet Stitch Pattern

The center of this square is actually a circle. I recommend this crochet pattern for intermediate to advanced stitchers.

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space

Base ring: Ch 6, join with sl st.
Round 1: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 15 dc into ring, sl st to top of ch 3.
Round 2: Ch 5 (count as 1 dc and 2 ch), [1 dc into next dc, ch 2] 15 times, sl st to 3rd of ch 5 (16 spokes)
Round 3: Ch 3, [1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc] into first ch 2 sp *[ch 2, sc into next ch 2 sp] 3 times, ch 2 ** [2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc] into next ch 2 sp; rep from * twice more then from * to ** again sl st to top of ch 3.
Round 4: Sl st into next ch 3 sp, ch 3 [1 dc, ch 3, 2 dc] into same ch sp, *[ch 2, sc into next ch 2 sp] 4 times, ch 2 ** [ 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc} into next ch 2 sp; rep from * twice more, then from* to ** again, sl st to top of ch 3.
Round 5: Sl st into next ch 3 sp, ch 3, [dc, ch 3, 2 dc] into same ch sp, *[ch 2, sc into next ch sp] 5 times, ch 2 ** [2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc] into next ch 3 sp; rep from * twice more then from * to ** again, sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
