Sand Jars

sand jar craft project

You can turn almost any glass jar into a sand jar. A plain glass votive instantly becomes a work of art once covered in sand. Pint size mason jars would be great for holding and displaying cotton balls and Q-tips. The possibilities are endless.

Materials:

  • Glass jars
  • Paint brush or sponge brush
  • Sand
  • White glue such as Elmer's glue

Optional: Raffia and shells

  1. Make sure your jars are clean and dry.
  2. Using a paint brush, paint a layer of glue on the outside of the jar. While the glue is still wet, cover it with sand. Work over newspaper or paper towels. After, you can pick up the paper, fold it in half and pour the excess sand back into your container.
  3. Dress it up by tying some raffia around the jar or hot glue some seashells to the container.
