Sedge Crochet Stitch

If you are looking for a crochet stitch with a nice tight weave, the Sedge Stitch fits the bill. It would make a nice warm blanket. You work this stitch using the single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet stitches.

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
sp = space
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain

Multiple of 3 sts + 1 (add 2 for base chain)

Row 1: Sk 2 ch (count as 1 sc), work [hdc, dc] into next ch; rep from * to last 3 ch, sk 2 ch, sc into last ch, turn
Row 2: Ch 1 (counts as 1 sc), work [hdc, dc] into first st, *sk [dc, hdc] work [sc, hdc, dc] into next sc, rep from * to last 3 sts, sk [dc and hdc], sc into top of tch, turn.
