Simple Chevron Crochet Stitch Pattern
The chevron stitch is a very traditional crochet stitch and this pattern does it with style. It provides a nice smooth up and down wave. There is one tricky stitch that some of you may not be familiar with and that is the double crochet three together or dc3tog. No need to worry if you are unfamiliar with it because the instructions below will explain it step by step. Make note that it is important to chain loosely when you begin so the edge won't be tighter than the rest of your work.
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
dc3tog = double crochet 3 together
rep = repeat
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain
Multiple of 10 sts +1 (add 2 for base chain)
Special Abbreviation dc3tog = double crochet 3 together - To make a dc3tog, work 1 dc in each of next 3 sts but leave last loop of each dc on hook, (4 loops on hook), yo and through all 4 loops
Row 1: Sk 2 ch (count as 1 dc), dc into next ch *dc into each of next 3 ch, over next 3 ch work dc3tog, dc into each of next 3 ch, 3 dc into next ch; rep from * ending last rep with 2 dc into last ch, turn
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), dc into first st, *dc into each of next 3 dc, over next 3 sts work dc3tog, dc into each of next 3 sts, 3dc into next dc, rep from * ending last rep with 2 dc into top of tch, turn
