Solid Shell Crochet Stitch Pattern
Traditionally many shell stitch patterns include other basic stitches between each shell but as you can see, this pattern contains just the shells. They are stitched tightly together and worked over a six stitch pattern repeat. Using alternating rows of color would make the shells really pop out on a completed project such as an afghan.
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

dc = double crochet

Multiple of 6 sts +1 (add 1 more for base chain)
Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from hook, *sk 2 ch, 5dc into next ch, skip 2 ch, sc into next ch; rep from * to end, turn
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 2dc into first st *sk 2 dc, sc into next dc, sk 2 dc, 5 dc into next sc; rep from * ending last rep with 3dc into last sc, skip tch, turn
Row 3: Ch 1, sc into first st, *sk 2 dc, 5dc into next sc, sk 2 dc, sc into next dc; rep from * ending last rep with 1 sc into top of tch, turn
