Spiral Hexagon Crochet Stitch Pattern

Included in the pattern below are instruction on how to make this pattern larger. It is worked in a continuous spiral. If you make it large enough you can even make a baby blanket or lapgan with this crochet pattern.

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
st(s) = stitch (es)

Base ring: Ch 5, join with sl st.
Round 1: (ch 6, 1 sc into ring) 6 times, sl st into first ch 3 of first sp.
Round 2: [ch 4, 1 sc into next ch 6 sp] 6 times, working last sc into sl st before the first ch 4 sp.
Round 3: [ch 4, 2 sc into next ch 4 sp, 1 sc into next sc] 6 times, working last sc into last sc at end of last round.
Round 4: *ch 4, 2 sc into next ch 4 sp, 1 sc into each of next 2 sc; rep from * to end.
Round 5: *ch 4, 2 sc into next ch 4 sp, 1 sc into each of next 3 sc; rep from * to end.

Continue in this way working 1 more sc in each group on each round until motif is the desired size, ending with a sl st into next sc. Fasten off.
