Track Crochet Stitch Pattern

track crochet stitch

The name, track stitch, describes this crochet stitch perfectly as it looks like a set of tracks. It is a simple pattern to follow which uses a double treble crochet and single crochet stitches. If you are not familiar with the double treble (dtr), you can find directions to make this stitch below but it is basically made the same way as a treble or triple crochet stitch with the only change being that you wrap the yarn around your hook three times at the start of the stitch instead of two times.

Materials: Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dtr = double treble
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
st(s) = stitch (es)

Any number of sts (add 1 for base chain)

Double treble (dtr) = yo 3 times instead of 2 times and complete as you do for a regular treble crochet stitch. In other words, yo 3 times, insert hook into your work, yo, draw loop through, [yo, draw through 2 loops] 4 times ending with just one loop on hook.

Row 1 (wrong side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc into next and each ch to end, turn
Row 2: Ch 3, dtr into first st and each st to end, turn
Row 3, 4 and 5: Ch 1, sc in first st and each st to end, turn
Rep rows 2 to 5
