Turning Diagonals Cable knitting stitch is one of the more difficult patterns we have listed on Craft Elf. However, it is well worth the effort to achieve this unique stitch with it's twisting cables.

Skill level: Advanced; 8 Stitch pattern repeat; 16 Row repeat

Multiple of 8 + 10.

Special Abbreviations:

C4B = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.
C4F = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.
T4B = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then purl sts from cable needle.
T4F=Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, purl next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle

1st row (right side): P3, k4, *p4, k4; rep from * to last 3 sts, p3.
2nd row: K3, p4, *k4, p4; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
3rd row: P3, C4B, *p4, C4B; rep from * to last 3 sts, p3.
4th row: As 2nd row.
5th to 8th rows: Repeat rows 1 through 4 once.
9th row: P1, *T4B, T4F; rep from * to last st, p1.
10th row: K1, p2, k4, *p4, k4; rep from * to last 3 sts, p2, k1.
11th row: P1, k2, p4, *C4F, p4; rep from * to last 3 sts, k2, p1.
12th row: As 10th row.
13th row: P1, *T4F, T4B; rep from * to last st, p1.
14th row: As 2nd row.
15th row: As 3rd row.
