Wavy Puff Sprays Crochet Stitch Pattern
A new twist has been added to the traditional wavy / chevron crochet pattern. The wavy puff sprays has groups of puff stitches added into the waves. These puffs add a unique texture and a nice visual. Great stitch for an afghan!
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
dc2tog = double crochet 2 together
hdc4tog = half double crochet 4 together
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
sp = space
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain
yo = yarn over
Multiple of 17 sts (add 2 for base chain)
Special Abbreviations:
dc2tog = double crochet 2 together - To make a dc2tog, work 1 dc in each of next 2 sts but leave last loop of each dc on hook, (3 loops on hook), yo and through all 3 loops
hdc4tog = half double crochet 4 together - To make a hdc4tog, yo insert hook into next st, yo pull up a loop, *yo insert hook into same st, yo pull up a loop, repeat from * two more times; yo and through all 9 loops Note ~ hdc4tog is also know as the ball stitch.
Row 1 (right side): Dc into 4th ch from hook (counts as dc2tog), [dc2tog over next 2 ch] twice, *[ch 1, work hdc4tog into next ch] 5 times, ch 1 **[dc2tog over next 2 ch] 6 times; rep from * ending last rep at ** when 6 ch remain, [dc2tog over next 2 ch] 3 times, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc into first st and into each st and each ch sp to end excluding tch, turn
Row 3: Ch 3, sk first st, dc into next st (counts as dc2tog), [dc2tog over next 2 sts] twice *[ch 1, work hdc4tog into next st] 5 times, ch 1 **[dc2tog over next 2 sts] 6 times; rep from * ending last rep at ** when 6 sts remain [dc2tog over next 2 sts] 3 times, sk tch, turn
