Description

Kids of all ages love to play with beads. They are an inexpensive craft supply that goes a long way which makes them an especially good choice when crafting with a large group.

Below are instructions for making beaded bracelets but this same technique can be used to make necklaces., anklets or even rings if you use small enough beads.

Materials and Supplies

Craft Supplies:

  • Pony beads
  • Elastic thread (cording)
  • Tacky glue - optional
  • Masking tape or painters tape

Craft Instructions

Cut a piece of elastic cord approximately 11" long

  • It is helpful, but not necessary, to dip the ends in tacky glue and let them dry on a piece of foil, wax paper or plastic wrap to prevent the ends from fraying.
  • Using masking tape or painter's tape, tape one end of the elastic cord to your work surface. This will prevent the beads from falling off as you string them.
  • Choose a pattern for your beads (example: one white, two purple and repeat) or just put the beads on randomly. String the beads onto the elastic thread until you have enough beads to go around your wrist.
  • Carefully remove the tape from your work surface being careful not to let the beads slide off the cording. Tie the two ends of the elastic cording in an overhand knot and trim off the ends.

This also makes a nice gift for a child to give to a friend, sibling or parent.
