Description

Made up of only three rounds, this cute little stitch works up quickly and is a good motif to start with when just learning to crochet shapes.

Materials and Supplies

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
st(s) = stitch (es)

Craft Instructions

Base ring: Ch 4, join with sl st.
Round 1: Work 8 sc into ring, sl st to first sc.
Round 2: Ch 5, 1 hdc in next sc (skipping sc at base of ch 5), ch 3, hdc into next sc, *ch 3, hdc into next sc; rep from * 5 more times, ch 3, sl st to 2nd ch of beginning ch 5.
Round 3: Ch 1, work 1 sc into each hdc and 4 sc into each sp around, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
