Description

Unlike in our other popcorn stitch patterns, these popcorns are more oblong. If you are looking for a pattern with lots of texture, the popcorn waffle stitch just might be what you are looking for!

Materials and Supplies

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
hdc = half double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain

Craft Instructions

Multiple of 4 sts + 1 (add 1 for base chain)

Note: To make a popcorn, crochet 5 dc all into the same space. Remove your crochet hook from the stitch it is in and insert the hook from front to back in the first double crochet; pick up the loop you dropped and pull it through the first double crochet.

Row 1 (right side): Sc into 2nd ch from hook, *ch 3 , make a popcorn into same place as previous sc, sk 3 ch, sc into next ch; rep from * to end, turn
Row 2: Ch 2, sc in 1st stitch, *sk next st, sc into each of next 2 ch, hdc into next ch, dc into next sc; rep from * to end, sk tch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, *ch 3, make popcorn into same place as previous sc, sk next 3 sts, sc into next dc; rep from * to end, turn

Rep rows 2 and 3.
