Description

The chevron stitch has been a trusted favorite for generations. Once you get the hang of it, this crochet pattern works up quickly. To create a striped effect, use two or three different colors and alternate them as you go.

Materials and Supplies

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
dc3tog = double crochet 3 together
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain

Craft Instructions

Multiple of 14 sts (add 2 for base chain)

Special Abbreviation dc3tog: double crochet 3 together - To make a dc3tog, work 1 dc in each of next 3 sts but leave last loop of each dc on hook, (4 loops on hook), yo and through all 4 loops

Row 1: Sk 2 ch (count as 1 dc), 2 dc into next ch *dc into each of next 3 ch [over next 3 ch work dc3tog] twice, dc into each of next 3 ch, [3dc into next st] twice; rep from * ending last rep with 3dc once only into last ch, turn
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 2 dc into first st, *dc into each of next 3 sts, [over next 3 sts work dc3tog] twice, dc into each of next 3 sts [3 dc into next st] twice; rep from * ending last rep with 3dc once only into top of tch, turn.
