Description

As you can see in the photo, this pattern has a series of popcorn stitches with vertical rows of zigzag chain stitches in between the rows of popcorn. I would recommend this stitch for intermediate to advanced stitchers.

Materials and Supplies

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
d = double crochet
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain

Craft Instructions

Multiple of 10 sts + 1 (add 4 for base chain)

Popcorn = work 5 dc all into the same stitch, remove hook from current stitch being careful not to lose the loop; insert hook into 1st dc of 5 dc set from right side to wrong side. With hook, grab loop from 5th dc and pull through.

Row 1 (right side): sc into 9th ch from hook, sc into each of next 2 ch, *ch 3, sk 3 ch, popcorn into next ch, ch 3, sk 3 ch, sc into each of next 3 ch; rep from * to last 4 ch, ch 3, sk 3 ch, dc into last ch, turn
Row 2: Ch 1, sc into first st, *sc into next arch, ch 3, popcorn into 2nd of next 3 sc, ch 3 ** sc into next arch, sc into next popcorn, rep from * ending last rep at **, sk 2 ch of tch arch, sc into each of next 2 ch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 6 (count as 1 dc and 3 ch), *sc into next arch, sc into next popcorn, sc into next arch, ch 3 ** popcorn into 2nd of next 3 sc, ch 3; rep from * ending last rep at **, dc into last sc, sk tch, turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3.
