Description

Cable with lace detail reminds me of lattice work. Once you have mastered the basic cable stitches, you should have no problem with this stitch. One cable needle is required in addition to your regular knitting needles.

Materials and Supplies

You can use any weight yarn along with the appropriate size needles for that particular yarn. A suggestion of needle sizes often is posted on the yarn label (wrapper).

Craft Instructions

Multiple of 12 + 2.
Special Abbreviations:

  • C4B = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.
  • C4F = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.

1st row (right side): Knit.
2nd and every alt row: Purl
3rd row: K1, *C4B, k4, C4F; rep from * to last st, k1.
5th row: Knit.
7th row: K3, C4F, C4B, *k4, C4F, C4B; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
8th row: Purl.
Rep these 8 rows.
