Description

The Linking Ovals Cable stitch is a set of ovals that are connected end to end. It is a fairly narrow cable worked over only eight stitches.

Materials and Supplies

You can use any weight yarn along with the appropriate size needles for that particular yarn. A suggestion of needle sizes often is posted on the yarn label (wrapper). You will also need a cable needle for this stitch.

Special Abbreviations:

C4B = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.
T3B = Slip next st onto cable needle and hold at back of work, knit next 2 sts from left-hand needle, then purl st from cable needle.
T3F=Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, purl next st from left-hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle.

1st row (right side): P2, C4B, p2.
2nd row: K2, p4, k2.
3rd row: P1, T3B, T3F, p1.
4th row: K1, p2, k2, p2, k1.
5th row: T3B p2, T3F.
6th row: P2, k4, p2.
7th row: K2, p4, k2.
8th row: P2, k4, p2.
9th row: T3F, p2, T3B.
10th row: K1, p2, k2, p2, k1.
11th row: P1, T3F, T3B, p1.
12th row: K2, p4, k2.
Rep these 12 rows.

*To work a background of reverse stockinette stitch, in straight stitching, purl the first row, knit the second and repeat these two rows.
