Materials and Supplies

You can use any weight yarn along with the appropriate size needles for that particular yarn. A suggestion of needle sizes often is posted on the yarn label (wrapper). You will also need a cable needle for this stitch.

Craft Instructions

Multiple of 8 + 1.

Special Abbreviations:
Work 5 tog (Work 5 sts together) = with yarn at front (wrong side), slip 3 sts purlwise, k2tog, p3sso.
P3sso = Pass three slip stitches over.
M5K = M1k, M3, M1k
M1k = Pick up horizontal strand between stitch just worked and next stitch, place on left hand needle, knit this stitch (1 stitch increase).
M3 = K, p, k all into the same stitch.

1st row (right side): K1, *p5, k1, p1, k1; rep from * to end.
2nd row: P1, *k1, p1, k5, p1; rep from * to end.
3rd row: As 1st row.
4th row: P1, *M5K, p1, work 5tog, p1; rep from * to end.
5th row: K1, *p1, k1, p5, k1; rep from * to end.
6th row: P1, *k5, p1, k1, p1; rep from * to end.
7th to 9th rows: Rep 5th and 6th rows once more then 5th row again.
10th row: P1, *work 5tog, p1 M5K, p1; rep from * to end.
11th and 12th rows: As 1st and 2nd rows.
Rep these 12 rows.
