Recycle and Craft

Turn those pieces of cardboard that come with shirts and other clothing into snowman ornaments for your Christmas tree. Our Glitter Snowman Ornament is a great Christmas craft project for kids! Have kids initial and date the back of the ornament so you will always know when they made it.

Materials and Supplies

Craft Supplies:

  • Cardboard like the type that comes in dress shirts
  • Aleene's Glitter Snow
  • Two 20mm wiggly eyes*
  • Orange glitter pompom
  • White Pompom
  • Six black beads
  • Red craft foam
  • 3/16" Hole Punch
  • Monofilament
  • Craft stick or plastic knife

*You can use any size eyes you like.

Craft Instructions

  1. Cut a 3" circle out of recycled cardboard.
  2. Using a craft stick or plastic knife, cover one side of the cardboard circle with Glitter Snow.
  3. While the glitter snow is still wet place the eyes, a pompom nose and the bead mouth into the snow.
  4. Cut a hat out of craft foam and place that on the top of the snowman's face above his eyes pressing into the snow while it is still wet.
  5. Spread some Glitter Snow along the bottom edge of the hat and glue a pompom to the end of the hat.
  6. Using the hole punch, make a hole in the top of the ornament.
  7. To attach a hanger to your ornament, cut a 10" piece of monofilament. Fold the monofilament in half and knot the ends together. Pass the fold in the monofilament through the hole and pass the knotted end of the monofilament through the loop and pull taught. Let dry completely before hanging on your Christmas tree.

Idea ~ Instead of using recycled cardboard for the base of your snowman, use a round cardboard drink coaster.
