Description

Make a Valentine bag to hold all your Valentine cards. Kids can make this little bag and hang it on their bedroom doorknob for family members to deposit Valentine cards in. In school, students can make these Valentine holders and either tape them to their desks or hang them all on a string along a wall or window etc. The handles on the bag are great for carrying the Valentines.

Materials and Supplies

Craft Supplies:

  • Canvas bag*
  • Piece of cardboard that fits inside the bag
  • Fabric paint, pink or red, black, silver
  • Heart stamp
  • Sponge brush

*Our bag is 6" wide x 5 1/2" high but you can use any size bag.

Craft Instructions

  1. Place a piece of cardboard inside the canvas bag to prevent the paint from seeping through to the other side of the bag.
  2. Squeeze some pink or red paint onto an old plastic lid (like from a coffee can) or onto a wax coated paper plate or styrofoam plate. Dip the heart stamp into the paint and press it down on the bag. Repeat to make as many hearts as you like reloading the paint after every stamp or two.
  3. Write a message or your name on the bag with black fabric paint in a squeeze bottle.
  4. Dip the tip of a sponge brush into the pink or red paint and touch the tip to the edges of the bag making a border all the way around. Reload the foam brush with more paint as needed.
  5. Let dry completely and if desired, decorate the other side of the bag in the same manner.
